News: Boulder HSP Meetup Group now Forming

Good news for HSPs living in and around the Boulder area:

There is now an HSP "meetup group!" The group is run through the meetup web site (which quite a few of you are familiar with), and is brand new as of June 4th.

Group organizer Sharon Wharton writes:

"The purpose of this group is to empower Highly Sensitive Persons through connection and celebration of what makes us important members of our society. If you're familiar with Elaine Aron's book or just have a hunch that you are highly sensitive, join us to discuss not only the difficulties but the advantages to experiencing life as an HSP. Activities will include HSP friendly excursions including but not limited to hiking, attending poetry readings, visiting art museums and galleries, and just getting together to share stories and offer validation."

The group's first meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 29th at 7:00pm, at Caffe Sole in Boulder.

Here's a link to the new meetup group's home page on the meetup web site:

If you live in the area-- or aren't averse to driving a bit-- I encourage you to check it out! There's great value and healing in HSPs spending time with other HSPs... so I hope those who read this will support this effort to build an HSP community!

Newest issue of Tribe Magazine now out!

The latest issue of Tribe magazine is now out, and available from the magazine's web site.

If you are not yet aware or missed the announcement here, last year a new magazine was launched: "Tribe" is a beautiful 4-color print magazine created BY HSPs, FOR HSPs, largely about the different aspects of living as an HSP. Tribe is a celebration of the beauty, strength and creativity of HSPs around the world-- a showcase of some of the best we offer the world.

This is our magazine.

I just got my copy of the magazine in the mail; it's well worth buying and reading. And sharing with others. It's a beautiful high quality full-color publication with insightful articles, poetry, beautiful photography, art and more. It's available as a web download as well as a printed magazine, but I really recommend the print version.

So... what are you waiting for? Go have a look!

Go here to buy a print copy of the Winter issue of Tribe Magazine.

Tribe: New Magazine for HSPs

There's something new, of interest to HSPs!

If you aren't already familiar with it, "Tribe" is a new magazine (in print, and online) created by HSPs, for and about HSPs and HSP-related topics. It's a beautiful and relevant magazine; the second issue is currently in production.

In addition to being a magazine, Tribe is also an online community for HSPs. The web site's forums serve in part as a place for HSPs to connect with their peers, as well as a place where HSPs can submit their creative writing, poetry, articles and photography for consideration to be
published in the magazine. If you are a creative HSP, you could subit your work and have it published in the world's first magazine for HSPs!

Here is a link to the Tribe forums (do go and register! It's a nice group of people):

And here's a link to the main web site:

I highly recommend the printed version of the magazine-- it's a beautiful full color production with lovely photography.

Second Colorado HSP Gathering to be held in October

I am writing this to share information about the next HSP Gathering, which will take place in Estes Park, Colorado, from October 1st-5th, 2009... and to encourage all who read this to consider attending a Gathering-- they are really wonderful events. And I say that from the perspective of being a 7-time attendee!

This is the second Gathering to be held in Colorado, as well as the second in Estes Park.

Registration for the Colorado Gathering is now OPEN, and the sooner you sign up the lower the conference fee will be. Although it's in the nature of HSPs to "pause and reflect," please register as soon as you can, as it will keep your cost lower... eventually, registration may reach an "as available" stage if you wait too long.

Gatherings are about learning, about going on a retreat, and about fellowship with other HSPs. We spend Thursday through Monday together, engaged in a mixture of workshops, social time, and just "quiet time" to reflect on the ongoing experience. As with the majority of past Gatherings, Elaine Aron will be giving a presentation with Q&A session to follow.

The Gathering will take place on the YMCA of the Rockies campus, outside Estes Park, in the shadow of Rocky Mountain National Park. This is NOT your "typical" YMCA, rather, it's a sprawling several hundred acre facility, with lots of natural green spaces. Accomodations range from "camping" to "private room with private bath."

Information about the Gathering-- as well as registration forms-- is now available on organizer Jacquelyn Strickland's web site:

Best regards to all!

The Denver and Colorado HSP Group Newsfeed

Welcome to the Denver and Colorado HSP Group's blog!

Whereas the group's web site is nice and informative, and the discussion group is great for interaction, a blog seemed like the most convenient format to post "news and events" of possible HSP Group meetings in the region, changes to the group, and other such news.

If you're a Highly Sensitive Person who just found this blog (perhaps from a google search, or a link on a web site), and have no idea there was an actual group for HSPs in Colorado, the good news is that there IS! If you'd like to know more about the group, please visit the Denver and Colorado HSP Group web site, where you'll find more information about the trait of high sensitivity, as well as information about the group and what we do.

If you'd like to just go directly to our group's home on YahooGroups and apply to join, go here.

The Colorado HSP group has moderated membership and posting, with the goal of maintaining an "HSP safe" environment for members. HSPs living in Colorado are welcome and invited to join!
